Long COVID: identify the mechanisms behind the syndrome.

Every day, an increasing number of patients is suffering from the long-term effects of COVID-19 worldwide. Now, there is still little validated knowledge on the mechanisms behind those symptoms as well as on suitable treatment methods.

Long COVID is a 48-month Horizon Europe project aiming to understand the mechanisms of host-virus response behind the long-term symptoms following COVID-19 infection.

The EU project will conduct research dedicated to identifying and understanding these mechanisms and will simultaneously develop suitable treatment methods for patients based on the findings.

In addition, the project will develop a decision support system for COVID-19 for the prediction and management of Long Covid Syndrome (LCS).

Coordinated by HUS Helsinki University Hospital (Finland) and including 12 partners from 6 countries (Germany, Finland, Italy, Netherlands, Switzerland, and Estonia), we will study the pathogenesis of Long-Covid Syndrome by:

  • Conducting geographically diverse cohort and registry studies;
  • Conducting mechanistic studies;
  • Using novel high-throughput methods for biomarker analysis;
  • Conducting interventional and follow-up studies on LCS patients.

This project has received funding from the European Union's Horizon Europe research and innovation program under grant agreement No 101057553.

More than ever, we need innovation to overcome the problems and obstacles that the world needs to face. Data is, without any doubt, the most valuable asset for innovative startups and companies and can unlock infinite new possibilities to improve people's quality of life.

Innovation through compliance

Not taking care of compliance and data means making innovation riskier and more expensive for all the people involved. Thus, compliance plays an important role and should be seen as an opportunity for companies to be even more innovative than ever. Being compliant from the very beginning helps you to react quickly to changes.

Time-to-market and efficiency are the key points to be able to compete with lower price points, higher Value for your customers, and innovation.

As a partner of our customers, we combine regulatory and technical expertise, with a modular IT platform that allows digital health applications to eliminate compliance risks, save costs, and time.
